Free Guide to Enterprise Car Rental Delivery Options

Understanding Enterprise Car Rental Delivery Services

Enterprise Rent-A-Car operates one of the largest vehicle rental networks in the United States, with over 10,000 locations. One feature that distinguishes Enterprise from some competitors is their delivery option, which allows customers to arrange for a rental vehicle to be brought to their location rather than visiting a rental facility in person. This service can be particularly useful for people who lack transportation, have mobility challenges, or prefer the convenience of having a car delivered to their home or workplace.

Enterprise's delivery service is not uniformly available at all locations or for all situations. The availability depends on several factors, including the specific branch location, the local demand for vehicles, the time of booking, and the distance from the nearest rental facility. Understanding how this service works can help you determine whether it might work for your rental needs.

The delivery option represents a growing trend in the car rental industry. According to industry data from 2023, roughly 35% of major rental locations now offer some form of delivery service, reflecting increased customer demand for convenience-based options. Enterprise has made delivery a standard offering at many of their locations, though not all branches participate equally.

When you request delivery, an Enterprise employee will drive your selected vehicle to your specified location. This differs from services like Turo or Zipcar, which operate peer-to-peer or subscription-based models. With Enterprise, you're still renting from a corporate location; the delivery simply changes where the transaction takes place.

Practical Takeaway: Before planning your rental around delivery, contact your local Enterprise branch directly to confirm whether delivery is available for your specific location and rental dates. Different branches have different capabilities.

How to Request Enterprise Vehicle Delivery

Requesting a delivery from Enterprise involves several steps that differ slightly depending on whether you book online, by phone, or in person. The process has become more streamlined in recent years as the company has invested in their digital platforms.

If you're booking through Enterprise's website or mobile app, look for an option labeled "delivery" or "pick up at" when you're selecting your rental location and dates. The website will show you which nearby locations offer delivery service. You'll need to enter your delivery address, and the system will calculate whether that address falls within the delivery zone for nearby Enterprise branches. Most Enterprise locations will deliver within a 15-mile radius, though this distance varies by location and demand.

When booking by phone, call your local Enterprise branch or use Enterprise's national reservation line at 1-800-RENT-A-CAR. Tell the representative that you're interested in delivery options. They can inform you about availability and may discuss pricing with you. Phone booking can sometimes offer more flexibility, as representatives have real-time information about vehicle inventory and driver availability.

During the booking process, you'll need to provide several pieces of information: your delivery address with clear directions, a phone number where you can be reached on the day of delivery, your driver's license information, and your payment method. Some locations may require you to provide a credit card for the reservation, even if you plan to pay with a different method at delivery.

Most delivery appointments are scheduled for a specific two-hour window. You should plan to be available during this window, as the delivery driver may not wait if you're not present. Some locations offer more flexible scheduling, particularly if you book well in advance.

Practical Takeaway: Have your delivery address and contact information ready before calling or booking online. If you live in an apartment or complex, provide detailed directions, including gate codes or building numbers, to ensure the driver can locate you without delay.

Pricing, Fees, and Cost Considerations

Enterprise's pricing for delivery service varies significantly depending on location, vehicle type, and distance. There is no single standard delivery fee across all Enterprise locations. Some branches include delivery at no extra charge, while others add a delivery surcharge ranging from $10 to $50 or more, depending on circumstances.

The base rental rate for your vehicle remains the same whether you pick it up in person or request delivery. What changes is whether additional fees apply. When you receive a quote online or over the phone, the system should display any applicable delivery charges. It's important to review the full quote before confirming your booking.

Distance is a primary factor in delivery pricing. A delivery to an address 5 miles from the rental location will typically cost less than a delivery 15 miles away. Some Enterprise locations use tiered pricing: for example, deliveries within 5 miles might be free, deliveries 5-10 miles might be $15, and deliveries 10-15 miles might be $25. Other locations may charge a flat fee regardless of distance within their service zone.

Vehicle type also affects total cost, though not necessarily the delivery fee itself. Delivering a mid-size sedan costs the same in delivery fees as delivering an SUV, but the rental rate for the SUV will be higher. If you're budget-conscious, selecting a smaller, fuel-efficient vehicle can reduce your overall rental cost.

Additional costs to consider include fuel, insurance, and any optional add-ons. When a vehicle is delivered to you, the fuel tank will typically be full, and you're expected to return it with a full tank. If you don't return it full, Enterprise will charge you for fuel at a per-gallon rate, which is often higher than local gas prices. Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) insurance is optional but can significantly impact your total cost. A typical daily LDW charge ranges from $10 to $25 per day depending on the vehicle.

Practical Takeaway: Request your full itemized quote and confirm all fees before completing your reservation. Compare the total cost including delivery, insurance, and estimated fuel charges against the cost of picking up at a nearby location to make an informed decision.

Delivery Availability and Service Limitations

Understanding the limitations of Enterprise's delivery service helps you plan more effectively and avoid disappointment. Not every rental scenario qualifies for delivery, and not every location offers it equally.

Geographic limitations are the most common restriction. Enterprise typically delivers only to residential and business addresses within their defined service zones, usually 10-20 miles from the rental location depending on the branch. If you live or need the car delivered to a location outside this zone, delivery won't be available. Rural areas, in particular, often fall outside delivery zones.

Time-based limitations also apply. Most Enterprise branches offering delivery do so during their standard business hours, typically 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday. Weekend and holiday delivery may not be available at all locations, or may require advance booking and potentially higher fees. If you need a vehicle very early in the morning or late at night, in-person pickup might be your only option.

Rental duration can affect delivery availability. Some Enterprise locations restrict delivery to rentals of a minimum length, such as requiring a three-day minimum rental if you want delivery. This policy varies by location. Similarly, one-way rentals—where you pick up at one location and return to another—may not be available through delivery at all locations.

Vehicle type limitations may also exist. During peak demand periods, some locations may restrict delivery to certain vehicle classes. For example, a location might offer delivery for sedans and compact cars but not for trucks or luxury vehicles. Seasonal variations affect availability too; rental companies typically have more vehicles available in winter months and fewer in summer.

Age restrictions can apply as well. Some Enterprise locations require drivers to be at least 25 years old to use delivery service, though policies vary. Younger renters might still be able to use delivery at certain locations with additional fees.

Practical Takeaway: Contact your local Enterprise branch at least one week before your needed rental date to confirm that delivery is available for your specific situation, including your location, date, time, and vehicle type preferences.

Preparing Your Location for Vehicle Delivery

Proper preparation of your delivery location ensures the process goes smoothly and your vehicle arrives safely. This preparation involves both logistical and practical considerations.

First, ensure you have adequate parking space for the delivered vehicle. The Enterprise driver will need to position the vehicle in a safe, accessible location. If you live in an apartment building or complex, reserved parking or guest parking should be arranged in advance. If street parking is your only option, ensure the space is large enough and that the driver can legally park there. Communicate this to Enterprise when booking; if adequate parking isn't available, the driver may not be able to complete the delivery.
