For power outage reporting, TECO Energy maintains a dedicated line: 1-813-228-4286 (for the Tampa area) or through their main customer service number. Outage reporting lines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because power outages can occur at any time. When you call to report an outage, the system will ask for your account number or service address to locate your area and provide an estimated restoration time. During major storms or widespread outages, wait times on this line can extend significantly due to high call volume.
Before calling, have the following information available to speed up your conversation:
- Your account number (found on your bill)
- Your service address (the address where you receive electricity)
- Your phone number on file with TECO Energy
- Recent bill statements if asking about charges
- The specific date or timeframe of the issue you're calling about
Customer service representatives can help with account-related questions, billing inquiries, service requests, payment arrangements, account holder changes, and general information about TECO Energy programs. If you're calling about a technical or engineering issue that requires a field visit, the representative will schedule an appointment and provide you with a service window. Some appointments require you to be home during the scheduled time, while others can be handled from outside your property.
Takeaway: Call during off-peak hours (Tuesday to Thursday morning) if your issue is not urgent, and keep your account number handy to reduce call time by several minutes.
Online Account Management Through the TECO Energy Website and Mobile App
TECO Energy offers a robust online platform where customers can manage accounts, view bills, report outages, and access various services without calling. The portal allows you to view your current bill, payment history, usage data, and make one-time or scheduled payments. Many customers use the online platform to monitor their monthly electricity consumption and track seasonal variations in usage.

This is particularly valuable for customers who work during standard business hours or who need to access their information outside normal operating times.
TECO Energy's mobile application, available for both iPhone and Android devices, provides similar functionality to the website with a format optimized for smartphones. The app allows you to report outages through an interactive map that shows affected areas and estimated restoration times.
